The 12th edition of the Social World Film Festival will be held from 3 to 10 July in Vico Equense, the 2022 International Social Cinema Exhibition dedicated to Monica Vitti.

The recently deceased great actress, who will feature on this year’s official poster, will be honored with a photographic exhibition, a retrospective, and question times with the young juries.

Events are scheduled to celebrate great anniversaries such as the 100th anniversary of the birth of Pier Paolo Pasolini and the 50th anniversary of the release of Totò in colori, whose first scene was shot right in the streets of the city that opens the Sorrentine Peninsula.

Engaged cinema thus returns to Vico Equense with the International Social Cinema Exhibition divided into 12 sections, competitive and non-competitive. “We will continue in our mission to enhance the cinema that makes you think, always giving space to young authors. There will be great guests as already demonstrated in the past editions which saw the actors Giancarlo Giannini, Valeria Golino, Michele Placido, Silvio Orlando, Stefania Sandrelli, Stefano Accorsi, Ornella Muti, the Oscar winner Luis Bacalov, the Americans Abel Ferrara and Tomas Arana, to name a few, and characters from major international series such as Itziar Ituno and Luka Peros from the “House of Paper”, Ian Glen from “Game of Thrones”.

Also for this new edition, sections also dedicated to vertical virtual reality works made with smartphones, series and web series, commercials, video clips, experimental films, photographs and screenplays for film, cinema and TV as well as traditional selections for short films, feature films and documentaries.
