Toni Servillo will open the 2022 International Social Film Festival in Vico Equense from 3 to 10 July, the opening film will be Magda by Ukrainian director Denys Soboliev.

Toni Servillo guest and a partnership with NABA – New Academy of Fine Arts and Cinema Foundation for Rome among the first novelties of the 12th edition of Social World Film Festival 2022, presented at the Italian Pavillion of the Hotel Le Majestic Barriere, on the occasion of the Festival de Cannes. The International Social Cinema Exhibition will be held from 3 to 10 July 2022 in Vico Equense under the direction of director Giuseppe Alessio Nuzzo, and will be opened by the film Magda by the Ukrainian director Danys Soboliev, for an Italian premiere.

Among the most popular Italian actors abroad, Toni Servillo will be the guest of the opening ceremony on Sunday 3 July when he will receive the Golden Spike Award for Lifetime Achievement and will sign the Wall of Fame, the monument to cinema that stands in the center of the city. In the afternoon, moreover, he will be the protagonist of an acting masterclass for students and aspiring actors and will inaugurate a retrospective dedicated to him.

Always in search of the best cinematographic talents in circulation in the world, the Social World Film Festival has selected for 2022 as many as 121 works including feature films, documentaries and short films in the 12 sections in competition and out of competition, including 86 in previews, from 28 countries several of the five continents, as well as 348 titles included in the European Young and Independent Cinema Market.

In the international feature films section, in addition to the aforementioned Magda, we find Le bruit des moteurs by the Canadian Philippe Gregoire, the Japanese Paper dream by Koichi Izuhara, Boxer Blood and Sweats by the Iranian director Nima Nadaf, and the Italians The Grand Bolero by Gabriele Fabbro and Ero in the war but I didn’t know about Fabio Resinaro.

New this year is the SNCCI Critics Award – National Union of Italian Film Critics, with a jury made up of three film critics thanks to the agreement with AFIC – Association of Italian Film Festivals, of which Social World is a member. Focus, Eye to the South (Focus, Occhio al Sud) award
Short Films
In the Focus, Eye to the South (Focus, Occhio al Sud) competition section of the 12th Social World Film Festival, the jury honored “La pescatora” by Lucia Lorè for Best Short Film. The young jury of the festival chose “Tutù” by Lorenzo Tiberia as the Best Short Film in this competition section.

Feature Films
The jury awarded “Come prima” by Tommy Weber for Best Feature Film In the Focus, Eye to the South (Focus, Occhio al Sud) competition section of the 12th Social World Film Festival. The young jury of the festival honored “Un mondo in più” by Luigi Pane as the Best Feature Film in this competition section.

Citta’ del Cortometraggio (City of Short Film)
In the Citta’ del Cortometraggio (City of Short Film) competition section of the 12th Social World Film Festival, the award went to “Per la madre” by Mauro Morandini and Davide Maimone.

International Documentary Competition
Best Director
The Best Director award in International Documentary Competition section of the festival went to Roberto Cannavò for “Porpora” from Italy.

Best Screenplay
Written by Katerina Giannakopoulou and C. Sarpatetti, “Only Human” won the Best Screenplay award in the International Documentary Competition section of the 2022 Social World Film Festival.

Best Editing
Jesse Immanuel Bom received the Best Editing award for “(R)OMA: a family history” directed by Klaas Burger and Stefany Karghoti from Netherlands.

Best Cinematography
Lars Poloskey won the Best Cinematography award for “Only Human” directed by Katerina Giannakopoulou from Germany.

Best Documentary
The Italian documentary “Princesa” directed by Stefania Muresu won the Best Documentary award of the 12th Social World Film Festival.

International Short Film Competition
Best Director
The Best Director award in the International Short Film competition section went to Andy Vallentine for “The letter men” from USA.

Best Screenplay
Written by Navid Nikkhah Azad, “The Recess” won the Best Screenplay award in the International Short Film Competition section of the 2022 Social World Film Festival.

Best Actor
The Best Actor award in the International Short Film Competition went to Stefano Accorsi for “Chiusi Fuori” directed by Giorgio Testi from Italy.

Best Actress
Sara Baccarini grabbed the Best Actress award for her performance in “Notte di Marzo” directed by Gianni Aureli from Italy.

Best Original Score
Moby won the Best Original Score in the competition section for “L’ultimo stop” directed by Massimo Ivan Falsetta from Italy.

Best Editing
Daniel Riser received the Best Editing award for “The letter men” directed by Andy Vallentine from USA.

Best Cinematography
Levente Toth won the Best Cinematography award for “Branka” directed by Ákos K. Kovács from Hungary.

Best Short Film
The Israeli short drama “Out of play” directed by Romi Menachem won the Best Short Film award of the 12th Social World Film Festival.

International Feature Film Competition
Best Director
The Best Director award in the International Feature Film Competition section went to Gabriele Fabbro for “The Grand Bolero” from Italy.

Best Screenplay
The Best Screenplay award in the International Feature Film Competition section of the 2022 Social World Film Festival went to Fabio Resinaro’s “Ero in guerra ma non lo sapevo” written by Mauro Caporiccio, Carlo Mazzotta, Fabio Resinaro.

The 12th edition of the Social World Film Festival will be held from 3 to 10 July in Vico Equense, the 2022 International Social Cinema Exhibition dedicated to Monica Vitti.

It will be dedicated to Monica Vitti the 12th edition of the Social World Film Festival which will be held from 3 to 10 July 2022 in Vico Equense. The recently deceased great actress, who will feature on this year’s official poster, will be honored with a photographic exhibition, a retrospective, and question times with the young juries.

Events are scheduled to celebrate great anniversaries such as the 100th anniversary of the birth of Pier Paolo Pasolini and the 50th anniversary of the release of Totò in colori, whose first scene was shot right in the streets of the city that opens the Sorrentine Peninsula.

Engaged cinema thus returns to Vico Equense with the International Social Cinema Exhibition divided into 12 sections, competitive and non-competitive. “We will continue in our mission to enhance the cinema that makes you think, always giving space to young authors. Also for this new edition, sections also dedicated to vertical virtual reality works made with smartphones, series and web series, commercials, video clips, experimental films, photographs and screenplays for film, cinema and TV as well as traditional selections for short films, feature films and documentaries. The Social World Film Festival was born in 2011 from an idea of director and producer Giuseppe Alessio Nuzzo. Not only a film festival, but it is also considered like a critical, social and cultural aggregation moment throuth seventh art.
